The BMW F10 M5 is the fifth generation M5, which was unveiled as a concept in April 2011 at the Shanghai Motor show. The F10 M5 is powered by the S63B44 twin turbo V8, which is the same motor as also found in the E70 X5M and E71 X6M. Power output is 560hp in the base form and if equipped with the competition package, power is increased to 575hp. Model years ran from 2011 thru 2016 and is replaced by the F90 M5. The F10 M5 is 18 seconds quicker around the Nürburgring than the outgoing E60 V10 model.
Most F10 M5s were manufactured with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission, however in the North American market BMW offered a 6 speed manual transmission. A total of only 577 manual transmission cars were ever produced.
A total of 19,533 examples of the F10 M5 were produced world wide, all manufactured on the same assembly line as the standard 5 series models in the Dingolfing factory north east of Munich.
